AMD Unveils 64-Bit ARM Strategy

Nov 01, 2012 | On Monday, AMD announced it is adding ARM-based Opterons to its portfolio, the first non-x86 server chips in the company's history. The new processors, due out in 2014, will use 64-bit ARM SoCs on top of its SeaMicro Freedom Fabric technology, and will be aimed at the datacenter and cloud space.

Dell Enters Hyperscale ARM Race

May 29, 2012 | On Tuesday, Dell announced a prototype low-power server built with ARM processors, code-named "Copper," aimed at the hyperscale datacenter space. Mar 13, 2012 | Cycle Computing has proclaimed the winner of the 2011 CycleCloud BigScience Challenge. Mar 06, 2012 | Three of Europe's most prominent research centers, CERN, the European Space Agency, and the European Molecular Biology Laboratory have teamed up to launch a massive cloud computing project. Helix Nebula – the Science Cloud was created to support the fast-growing IT demands of European researchers. Supply-side partners, including IaaS provider CloudSigma, are working to design a cloud computing environment that meets the specific requirements of the HPC community.
