Yandex Uses Nimbula Director for Private Cloud Infrastructure


MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Oct. 1 — Nimbula, the Cloud Operating System Company, today announced that Yandex is using Nimbula Director for its private cloud infrastructure.

Yandex is a Russian-born Internet company which operates the largest search engine in Russia and develops a number of Internet-based services and products in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Turkey. The company is one of three companies worldwide that has an international Web index database.

Shortening the development cycle was a major driver for Yandex to implement Nimbula Director. Using Nimbula Director, the team is able to improve their Infrastructure-as-a-Service private cloud, and leverage a developer-friendly hardware architecture:

  • Nimbula Director's API allowed QA engineers to parallelize testing processes.
  • Nimbula Director's secure self-service capabilities allowed developers to get their instances immediately.
  • Nimbula Director's fine-grained security model allowed different teams to share objects securely.

As a result, developers are now able to deploy sandboxes 90% faster. In addition, Nimbula Director's quality and wide range of hardware compatibility allowed Yandex to leverage the hardware of their choice.
