Xeround Announces Availability of Free Cloud Database on Rackspace

A free, zero-management, highly available cloud database for MySQL applications now available to Rackspace users and expands capabilities

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., July 2 — Xeround, the Cloud Database company, today announced that the free edition of their popular cloud database for MySQL applications is now also available on Rackspace Cloud.

Xeround's cloud database is the only free relational database solution offered to Rackspace customers, providing zero-management experience and seamless high-availability – all in a simple database-as-a-service.

Until now, Rackspace users were offered only Xeround's paid editions. With the addition of Xeround FREE, Rackspace users can now experience the least amount of friction when developing their applications for the Rackspace cloud, enjoying a MySQL database service at no cost.

Xeround's free plan is limited to 10MB. As development ends and their database grows, Rackspace customers can upgrade to one of Xeround's paid editions: Xeround BASIC or Xeround PRO, which have also been updated.

Responding to feedback from Xeround's current customers, the company is expanding their BASIC edition to include up to 0.5GB in data size and up to 40 concurrent connections, starting at $17/month on Amazon EC2 and $33/month on the Rackspace data center. Xeround PRO, which also includes Xeround's industry-first auto-scaling capabilities, has been upgraded and now supports up to 4,800 connections and can be increased to support unlimited throughput. Both Xeround BASIC and Xeround PRO now also include SSL support and performance improvements.

"We're thrilled to offer our FREE Cloud Database on Rackspace and are continuously improving our product to better cater to market demands," said Razi Sharir, CEO of Xeround. "Rackspace users can now experience the most robust solution for running MySQL in the cloud with no installation, configuration or management overhead, and at no cost."

Xeround continues to bring a simple, highly available and truly elastic cloud database to more and more users worldwide. Xeround's Cloud Database has recently become available on the Joyent Cloud, HP Cloud Services, the Rackspace Cloud UK data center and several other platforms, including AppHarbor and PHP Fog.

"Our database is always live and scales automatically with Xeround. We're able to focus on our code rather than IT issues, while saving considerable time, effort and cost," said Rajiv Perera, partner at Blue Saki Online and Xeround Customer, running on Rackspace. "With Xeround's free edition, things just got better. We can use it while developing our new applications without having to worry about installing a database ourselves or having to pay for database hosting."
