Lustre User Group Announces Conference Program


AUSTIN, Texas, March 8 — The Lustre Community Groups, Open Scalable File Systems (OpenSFS) and European Open File Systems (EOFS) are proud to announce the conference agenda for the Lustre User Group 2012 Conference (LUG2012). Scheduled in Austin, Texas, from April 23 – 25, this 10th annual conference is the Lustre community's premier venue for current and prospective open source file system users to learn and share, develop best practices, receive updates and provide direct feedback to developers. LUG2012 is made possible by our generous sponsors: Bright Computing, Bull, Cray, DataDirect Networks (DDN), Dell, EMC2, Intel, NetApp, RAID Inc., SGI, Terascala, Whamcloud and Xyratex.

"LUG is the preeminent venue for users of the Lustre parallel file system, drawing users from around the world and across a variety of disciplines," said Galen Shipman, Oak Ridge National Laboratory's Technology Integration Group Leader and a member of the LUG2012 organizing committee.

This year, attendees will come together with a renewed focus on Lustre development after a period of uncertainty over it's future. With the formation of EOFS and OpenSFS to serve as focal points for the community, collaborative efforts on this open source file system for high performance computing are thriving. "In the past year the Lustre community has come together to collaborate on the release of Lustre 2.1 and is now in the final stages of releasing Lustre 2.2. The new collaborative community support model has enabled Lustre to meet end user requirements and we look forward to more activity as community support grows," notes Norman Morse, CEO of OpenSFS.

The 3-day conference will feature more than 30 presentations by users and developers in addition to round table discussions. Attendees are also invited to attend the OpenSFS Technical Working Group and Community Development Working Group meetings on Wednesday, April 25 from 1-5 p.m. The conference schedule can be found at www.opensfs.org/lug/program.
