Univa Customer Growth Accelerates by 600 Percent

MARKHAM, Ontario, Feb. 21 — Univa, the data center automation company, today announced it set sales records in 2011 on the heels of accelerating customer acquisition.

"In 2011 Univa got down to the hard work of delivering against the future path Grid Engine users need," said Gary Tyreman, president and CEO of Univa. "We created the future for Grid Engine through substantial investment in people and infrastructure to enable users to have a place to go for features, expertise and support."

Customer Acquisition

In January, 2011, Univa announced it had hired the principal Sun Grid Engine development team. This was followed by two product deliveries of Univa Grid Engine in 2011 representing nearly 1 million lines of code changes, hundreds of fixes and dozens of new features. Univa Grid Engine customer acquisition grew above 600%.

Strengthened Board

Univa added Dale Quayle, CEO of FileTrek, to the Board of Directors as Executive Chairman. Mr. Quayle has 25 years experience in high tech and data center software companies and previously served as CEO of Integrien, which he sold to VMware in 2010.

"Univa has greatly simplified the delivery of complex HPC and Big Data software," said Dale Quayle, Executive Chairman at Univa. "By creating a frictionless, low-cost model the company is able to offer Sun Grid Engine users unsurpassed expertise and unbeatable services and support at an affordable price."

New Toronto Area (Markham, Ontario) Office

Univa also announced it has opened an office in the Greater Toronto Area (Markham), Ontario to take advantage of a strong resource pool and tax incentives as it continues to grow its engineering and sales presence.

Company Financing

To further fuel and strengthen this dynamic growth, Univa has secured additional financing to support its market strategy. Incumbent investors include Core Capital Partners, River Cities Capital Funds, ARCH Venture Partners and Hatteras Funds.

"The investors in Univa believe in the plan that the management team has laid out," said Rik Vandevenne, director, River Cities Capital Funds. "We look forward to another year of milestones and growth."
