TechAmerica Foundation's State & Local Government Cloud Commission Offers Best Practices for Adopting Cloud Computing

Leading cloud thinkers to government: cloud is imperative for better collaboration, better service and better cost

WASHINGTON, Jan. 30 — On February 16, 2012, at an event in Silicon Valley, the TechAmerica Foundation's State and Local Government Cloud Commission (SLG-CC) will release its much-anticipated recommendations on cloud computing deployments, including business and policy issues and technologies, to U.S. states and localities. The Commission's vision for cloud computing in state and local government: better collaboration within and between government agencies; better services to governments and citizens; all delivered at a savings to taxpayers – benefits that can be shared by all Americans.

The Commission's report is the result of a unique and powerful collaboration between representatives of 38 leading technology companies and leading government officials. The Commission's publication and online portal will deliver guidance to state and local governments to optimize the ways they evaluate, procure, and implement cloud technologies. For more information on the Commission, go to the SLG - CC website.

The half-day event begins with a press conference unveiling the report's findings that will feature the Commission's leadership and comments from California Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom.
