Sensible Cloud Announces Public Beta of controlmycloud.com Apps

Public Cloud Control applications empower customers to define their own SLAs based on business requirements

BOSTON, Dec. 14 — Sensible Cloud, the industry's first cloud control company, today announced a public beta of controlmycloud.com, a solution that empowers SMEs to control their public cloud resources by implementing 'off the shelf' cloud control apps from three categories; infrastructure optimization, bill control and business continuity. controlmycloud.com is a series of template control applications, delivered via an easy-to-use secure Web interface, that empower SMEs, developers in larger organizations and Amazon AWS users to manage and control the cloud operations of their Amazon EC2 environment (and in the future VMware, Microsoft Azure, and Openstack.)

With controlmycloud.com, customers can manage the cost of public cloud services and match those services to required performance metrics, without having to constantly monitor and manually adjust their public IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) solutions. The industry's first SLA-as-a-service offering, controlmycloud.com provides real-time access to visual tools and historic reporting of costs savings compared to unmanaged IaaS services. The solution also provides 24×7 access to adjust required performance parameters to tune automated behavior based on the company's most important business applications.

Via template control apps, controlmycloud.com allows customers to define policies that activate KPI thresholds within SLAs, which are constantly 'watching' a managed cloud environment. These SLAs for public clouds ensure consistent service delivery without a breach, while adjusting cloud resource usage, up or down, to maintain the optimum range within service level targets. Customers set SLA parameters and controlmycloud.com maintains the service level – enabling organizations to reap the biggest benefit from cloud services for the lowest cost possible.

"As more SMBs move to the cloud it's critical that they ensure their cloud computing investments are actively managed and optimized to align with key business drivers," said David King, CEO of Sensible Cloud. "controlmycloud.com empowers these organizations to set parameters based on what is most important to the business and provides them with tight control over the cost and performance of their public cloud environment. By being able to set their own SLA parameters, these customers can assure that their businesses are always functioning at the highest level. We encourage SMEs to come kick the tires on controlmycloud.com to better understand how it can improve their business."

SLA-Aware Scheduling and Virtual Efficiency

Researchers from the Suddhananda Engineering and Research Centre in Bhubaneswar, India developed a job scheduling system, which they call Service Level Agreement (SLA) scheduling, that is meant to achieve acceptable methods of resource provisioning similar to that of potential in-house systems. They combined that with an on-demand resource provisioner to ensure utilization optimization of virtual machines.
