Adaptive Computing Announces Upgrades to Moab with 6.0 Release


Adaptive Computing, which provides automation software for HPC, datacenter and cloud environments, has announced upgrades to its core Moab automation product with today's release of Moab Adaptive Computing Suite 6.0.

The new features have been designed to enhance Moab’s “ability to automate the complex decision-making process of identifying and allocating available resources based on business policies, compliance, cost and performance goals.”

Additions to the product for the upgrade release of the Moab product include:

• Automatic live migration of VM workloads to maximize utilization and meet policy-based and service needs.

• Rapid automation of resource allocation via the provisioning and de-provisioning of hardware resources according to policy demands.

• “Showback” of usage costs to ensure services are meeting standards and compliance requirements.

• Aggregation of data for “rich context to automate initial resource allocation decisions and policy-based actions through integration with other resource managers, data repositories, and identity management systems.”

Michael Jackson, President and COO of Adaptive Computing noted that Moab’s upgrade, “enterprises can create an optimized cloud environment that has the agility to respond to business requests via sophisticated automation.”

He also notes that partners, including HP, have relied on Moab to “extend the value and return on investment of their cloud infrastructures.”

The Moab Adaptive Computing Suite has been used in a number of deployments, including IBM’s Virtual Loaner Program, wherein the company required a scheduling and policy engine that would be able to integrate with IBM’s products to allow access to IBM servers, operating systems and middleware remotely.
